BayCISS provides case work, family counselling and essential supports including emergency relief, information, referral, advocacy and support for vulnerable, at-risk, homeless and low-income community members. Most people initially come to BayCISS seeking emergency relief and we respond with a wraparound service to address complex needs. Over the past 12 months, we provided over 6,500 food parcels and this number keeps rising. The number of people presenting as homeless or at risk of being homeless has also doubled.
As winter settles in, we expect a further increase in numbers as vulnerable locals struggle to pay for rent, food and heating.
