Since 2001, Cranbrook School has supported various community assistance projects in Nepal and India through an organisation called CETOP (Cranbrook Explorers and Travellers Overseas Partnerships). CETOP is a volunteer teacher and parent initiative. Projects have included building a school for young children in Ladakh in Northern India that provides the only formal education on offer in remote villages in the area. Cranbrook Junior School (K-6) has been involved in collecting supplies for local schools, funding teacher training programs, building projects and helping to set up dental clinics in Nepal for over ten years. I am part of a group of Year 5 students at Cranbrook Junior School who are travelling to Nepal in April 2024 with parents and teachers as part of a CETOP trip. Our purpose is to help improve the education and health conditions for remote local communities in the Rasuwa District in the Langtang region of Nepal. We will be trekking for several days visiting schools, handing over funds and delivering resources including dental products. CETOP encourages Cranbrook students to actively participate in fundraising activities exposing them to ‘hand to hand’ giving.

I plan to do another paddle later this year and am calling on friends to see if we can team up again to raise funds for the Arrow Bone Marrow Foundation. The Arrow Foundations' mission is to help people to have bone marrow transpalants, especially kids with leukaemia. Over the past four years together we have raised more than $17,000 for the foundation. The Murra Marathon and the Hawkesbury Challenge timing is not quite right this year and I wanted something that fits within the GHD holiday shutdown. During my secondary education I failed a few things (French in Year 9), but I never failed to cross the Murray River twice every day for six years. First at Brigenbrong Bridge (Khancoban to Corryong) and then at Union Bridge (Albury to Wodonga). So let's link the bridges together (28/12 - 30/12) with a 210 km paddle and a donation to Arrow at $0.10 pera kilometre (or any other combination). For any kilometre that I fail to cover, I will donate $4.00. Thanks to Tricia for 'volunteering' to be land crew, the most difficult critical role for a long paddle. Thanks for you help and generosity. Wennie
Hi all, Flat Out and Homes not Prisons are raising funds to support Auntie Vickie Roach - proud Yuin woman and respected elder in the movement against the prison industrial complex in Australia. After decades of writing and campaigning Auntie Vickie is now in palliative care for serious respiratory and other health issues. She is in a private rental property and needs support with rent, personal home care, groceries, health and medical costs. We need to raise at least $1000 a month while we try to source more affordable supportive accommodation and care. If you have worked with Auntie Vicklie or read her work or heard her speak you will understand how important it is that we care for her now. You can hear Vickie talk about her life and work here: In and out of strife: Vickie Roach's turbulent life Please consider a regular weekly or monthly donation to help us create some safety, stability and comfort for Aunt. We'd also be grateful if you could share this link with others who could help. Thank you

Out of the blue in August this year (2024) I was confronted with an advanced lung cancer diagnosis & the knowledge my time was limited. Overwhelmed and facing the devastating reality of saying goodbye to my loved ones I reached out to Tender Funerals. I have always lived my life authentically and by the philosophy to ‘keep things simple’. And I wanted my death to be the same; simple, joyful and representative of who I am. I first heard about Tender Funerals when it was featured on an episode of "Australian Story" (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-16/a-community-undertaking/13932294) on the ABC and it really made an impact on me. To briefly sum it up, Tender is a community-based, not-for-profit funeral service that helps families to have an authentic and affordable funeral service without the ‘suits’ or going into large amounts of debt. Tender also offers community education and empowerment around death care (you can be more involved than you think!) as well as promoting environmentally sustainable death practices such as the use of shrouds and cardboard coffins. Tender Funerals is not yet operational in Geelong, but a small group of dedicated volunteers are in the process of making it happen. One beautiful volunteer in particular (Elizabeth) has been amazingly supportive; guiding me & my family to help me fulfil my end of life wishes. Tender Funerals are incorporated as a business and are registered as a charity. So please support their work and help bring this valuable service to our local community by donating to my Crowdraiser. I know they will appreciate every cent received and I'll be very grateful too. Through my story I hope to show people that death is simply a part of life, and that it can be a transformative, beautiful & deeply personal experience. My daily struggle with mental health is a solitary battle that demands immense strength and resilience. To continue to confront this challenge, I've chosen to embark on a monumental journey: riding my BMX from Cairns to Perth. This ambitious goal is not only a personal test but also an opportunity to seek strength and hope for myself and others. Through this journey, I aim to connect with others, raise awareness for mental health, and advocate for suicide prevention. Partnering with the R U OK? initiative feels like a natural fit, as their approach to staying connected with those experiencing mental illness and having tough conversations aligns perfectly with why I am taking on this challenge. CARE THROUGH CONNECTION THANKYOU , even the notion of generocity is appreciated sincerly WEEXY R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives. Their work focuses on building the motivation, confidence and skills of people who can have a meaningful conversation with someone who is struggling with life and connect someone to appropriate support, long before they're in crisis. With your support R U OK? can r each more Australians, inspire regular, meaningful conversations every day of the year, and ultimately change lives So please support their work by donating to my CrowdRaiser, as I know they will appreciate every cent received. And I will be very grateful for your contribution too! Also, I would be very grateful for you to share the link to this CrowdRaiser page to your friends and family. Calling our emergency services friends and family to join us as we Run as One. Together we will run or cycle between response locations in our region to raise awareness for the mental health of Emergency Service Workers. The event will take place over 7 days, from 7th of April to the 13th of April, with the final day being a community walk from Mooroopna to Shepparton. We have a goal of raising $10,000, with all proceeds being donated to our partner organisation “Code 9”. Code 9 provides immediate emergency welfare to current and veteran professional first responders and their family. Code 9 provide support, advice, and guidance to members in critical need of assistance. They fund and coordinate the provision of assistance dogs to mentally injured first responders. Meals are supplied to members in need, along with house cleaning, garden maintenance, grocery vouchers and other assistance as required.
We are raising funds for Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD) to support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, who get no assistance from Centerlink and often have no work rights or even Medicare/health care.
